When meeting the minimum isolation distances is physically unworkable, or location of the subsurface disposal field can not be determined, additional protective measures must be used. Additional protection shall be provided through the use of additional casing and grouting of any annular space. Where possible, the well should be located in a non-hazardous location where the well will not be subject to damage from vehicles and similar hazards. |

Additives to increase fluidity, reduce shrinkage or control time of set may be used, expanding agents such as aluminum powder may be used at a rate not exceeding 0.075 oz/sack of dry cement. Calcium chloride should not exceed 2 lb/sack dry cement. High-alumina cement and Portland cement of any type shall not be mixed. Other types of cement not to be used w/o approval. In no case shall sand or aggregate be added to cement grout mixtures. In no case shall permanent well casing be moved or driven following placement and initial set of cement grout. |

Hand dug or bucket wells exceeding 24 inches in diameter to be abandoned using same method as wells in unconsolidated material. Every new, modified, or reconditioned ground water source should be examined for its chemical characteristics by tests of a representative sample in a department or other approved laboratory. The samples should be collected and tested as soon as practical. |
